Super smart observation/ recommendation. How do we identify those talents to invest in asap?

Medias touch is obviously one proven successful example.

Good idea! The investment should include not only the creation of the content, but also its promotion. For example, when a Democrat participates in a town hall in an R district where the R elected official is MIA, that would be a great opportunity to promote oligrach-free content.

Kara Swisher was talking about this last week on the View. How do we get this started? We need good billionaires. Melinda Gates, Mackenzie Scott, Marc Cuban.

I just read that Voice of America is now silenced. We need to take that over.

Democratic Leadership and lack thereof caused much of what is happening today. This is another example of their view of Democrat exceptionalism and they just don't pay attention to what has and is going on. Much as I like her, Michelle Obama saying "When they go low, we go high." Is the remark I use to enforce the exceptionalism attitude on the Democratic Party. Second is all the Democrat members of Congress who went to Trump's inauguration, voted for his cabinet members and the notorious 10 Senators that voted with the GOP budget last Friday.

They need a reset button to people in leadership that get why we are in this mess up to the point of losing our Democracy. And it is like a Constitutional Crisis and yes, a Coup to many of us who aren't exceptionalists.

Read How to Stand Up To a Dictator by Maria Resa. They tested anti democratic propaganda in the Philippines first.

I think you're right. Obviously there is a huge problem here. And everything needs to be looked at. From grassroots tiny elections that none of the Democrats pay any attention to but the Republicans built their machine by paying attention to them, to whatever they're doing on the internet. But I think being controlled by the billionaires is something that none of the content creators on the left want to deal with. The content creators on the right actively pursue that kind of money. So that has to be addressed before any changes can be made

Part of this problem is market access. Until the markets are again restricted so one company cannot own or control in any particular city or market, all of the media outlets. Currently there is no center-right, all of their media is far-right. Thru their extremist ideology, they are much more engaging with the lies, conspiracies, racism, white nationalism, and just plain made up shit. We to the left side of even center-right with our facts and inclusion are never going to be exciting. We are always going to be explainers. Not a lot of eyeballs on corrections. I don’t know how we can overcome the fact that governance should be boring, should be fairly stable and taken for granted, you know, trusted.

I notice this especially when driving across my state and anywhere “rural”. The radio programs consist of right-wing talk shows, “Christian” stations or country western music stations. I don’t know if central-left talk shows could find footing in these rural areas, but I can definitely say there is no balance of information there.

My son drives a lot, all over the West Coast. When he is out in the boonies, the only radio available is right wing, and so he listens to the dumbest stuff and then I have to reeducate him. He knows now that almost everything they say is a lie. What about people who don't have people to educate them?

Bezos trying to help Joe Rogan or is it Tim Cook?

On Alexa echo devices, regardless if of what podcast you ask to hear, it gives you Joe Rogan 🤮

Alexa customer support says 'could be a couple days' 😳

Hear hear! This is exactly what we need and what is missing. We've got a few creators at the top who make enough money to support themselves and a team. And then we've got others (like me) who are mostly self-funded (read..doing this for free. Alone. No Team) Sure I've got some paid subs (thank you thank you thank you) but still under 100. But every time I wonder whether it's worth doing at all, lots of people tell me they actually want to hear what I have to say. If there were investment, I could actually maybe hire a team for production and make more content! And we all do things a bit differently--I'm not Meidas Touch or Joyce Vance or Heather Cox Richardson (she's my hero!). Courier media has started to create an environment, as have others, but it's not well enough funded, cohesive, cross promoting, or all the other things the environment needs to be to be effective. And it needs to include people talking about culture, entertainment, books, sex, menopause, whatever...things that people want to hear without shoving politics down their throats.

What kind of shows are you talking about? Twenty years ago I started one of the first podcasts about writing. I ran it for seven years. But it wasn't political. I gather that's not the kind of thing you're talking about--or are you?

Would you please create a PowerPoint for the luddites at Capitol Hill about this, because that appears to the only thing that is happening while hiding in those back rooms. And then they emerge spin in circles, spouting nonsensical sound bites, AFTER the s**t has hit the fan! I’m actually not joking make them a PowerPoint! They are bringing a broken water pistol to a full fledged war! Someone needs to wake them up and bring them into this century! Get rid of the consultants!!! Clearly that’s not the answer! We have a saying in recovery, “It’s like doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result.” #wakeupdems
