There are talented and resourceful individuals not presently in office. Stacey Abrams, Beto O'Rourke, and Katie Porter come to mind. Might we not recruit them in some capacity?

They will probably be in the 1st or 2nd waves of dissidents' arrests.

And your point is…?

That the individuals named would have been arrested and imprisoned and, therefore, unavailable to be recruited for any kind of help.

Love this suggestion, but how do we get democratic leadership to actually buy into it and form the united coalition? So far they have been waaaay to cautious! Is there some way to get them to understand this is what the grassroots (and I'm sure average Dem voter) wants?

Maybe a petition or online vote of some kind?

Sorry to be replying to myself, but maybe what we really need to do is make some campaign $ pledges that contingent on Dems stepping up?

I suggest NATO clean up though a PUTIN general was killed in public and I want an FBI round up here. I hear SEC is going nuts to Indict and enforce before inauguration. Biden needs to honor NATO and stop the inauguration of a transnational mob. The Haines report must be submitted. Evidence of foreign election interference abounds.

“A stronger, pro-democracy media ecosystem” has got to be conceived and organized ASAP. For all the handwringing over what the Dems did wrong this election cycle, I submit the lack of that media ecosystem, exacerbated by being overwhelmed by the propagandized right-wing media, with a significant assist from Putin’s bot army was the real difference. And don’t think for a minute, Musk’s, Murdoch’s, Putin’s and the Trump campaign’s efforts weren’t coordinated.

The TRUTH has to get as much or more airtime as what we’re going to see and hear from these same sources - except this time, the assertions (not evidence) will be coming from Trump’s administration. I’m not sure what the rest of this series holds, but I expect Trump and his team will serve-up many contrived-but-bogus issues to distract and some false flags that will need to be quickly assessed as such and called out!

It's authors like Tristan, Judd Legum, Jay Kuo, and many others who are writing truth to power. They need as much support as possible, and good lawyers to protect them.

The Democratic leadership needs to show up and stand up now. They have, with a few exceptions, been MIA since the election.

You don’t do it by putting another 74 y/o white dude on the oversight committee instead of AOC. Get back to us when you learn to read the room; not until. Done with the lot of you losers.

You make it sound like *I* co-signed that decision? I most certainly do not. And I agree with you that we can't wring our hands that we failed to win over younger voters in the numbers we were expecting and then refuse to promote any younger leaders into the leadership.

Sorry, misdirected; speaking to the Democratic leadership, not you. Pelosi has been a great parliamentarian in the past, but is well beyond her “best if used by” date. I won’t forgive or forget her latest maneuvering in opposition to AOC nor her coziness with Wall Street.

The #1 requirement of strong leadership and a picture of Schumer just don’t correlate! It’s time for the old guard of the Democratic Party to step aside and let younger, stronger fighters lead!

AOC vote is a perfect example of opportunity lost!

Thank you for this outline. I suggest adding an additional item about not trying to fight peripheral battles that don’t directly relate to neutralizing and eliminating Trump, et al. There will be time for those if the first goal can be accomplished.

Isn’t this premised upon a belief that Democratic leadership wants to fight? Establishment Democrats seem corrupt and overly influenced by money, even if they aren’t aligned with Trump. I don’t see enough people in power fighting. I do realize that some of the fight is being hidden by the larger narratives.

Tristan -- you mention the midterms in 2026 and the possibility of Democrats retaking the House. I think the Repubs are going to seize voting machines and reprogram them to produce results that will only reelect Repubs.

I don't think elections will matter much in this country moving forward. I seriously think Trump will invoke the Insurrection Act as soon as his recently released Jan 6 insurrectionists go out and start causing violence all across the country. Which Trump and the GOP will blame on Antifa, lol, and say the president is forced to use the Insurrection Act. Once that is done, he will suspend the Constitution and hold all further elections. Then you ask, how we will get representatives in congress or senate for each state? Well, those will be "appointed" by state legislators moving forward, since elections are suspended and cannot be "trusted" anymore. Remember how fraudulent 2020 was, right? They will paint this as a temporary solution while they "rigg" any future elections that ever occur. We have given up the ghost of democracy. I don't think we get it back without blood and sacrifice, if ever at all. No offense to anyone who believes in America, but we are getting the fuck out of this country. It does not represent my or my wife's values anymore. There are other places on earth to enjoy your life. This country has run it's course, unless you are a white male, that is.

What about the idea that Dems could raise the issue of Amendment 14 section 3 to prevent Trump from taking office due to his adjudicated insurrection, unless 2/3 of congress creates an exception? He could never get a 2/3 vote in his favor. See the article by Baude and Paulsen: Sweeping Section Three Under the Rug: A Comment on Trump vs Anderson. Harvard Law Review (forthcoming 2025)
