But I don't *WANT* him to resign. Every minute he stays, the more damage he does to them. He will be a constant reminder to people who don't want to remember of incompetence and disloyalty to the nation.

"Grind on" is the right metaphor. The Trump machine now has so much sand in it's gears that it is grinding itself down to seizing up. No reason we can't help it along, though.

Naw I want him triple down and have that drunken sex scandal that includes an underage escort and being pulled over by DC po-po with that hilarious mugshot that drags Jodi Ernest and Thom Tillis down

Hegseth can and should be impeached.

It would be a great exercise for our congress to actually go through the process to find their footing and use the power they are obligated to employ when conditions require it - as they certainly do now. Anything less is a dereliction of duty when so much is at stake. We cannot afford to have the function of the Pentagon in shreds - if it continues now, congress must shoulder as much blame as Hegseth. For this process to unfold, we must have Hegseth cling vainly to his undeserved seat a bit longer. If he resigns, he lets Congress off the hook.

Once Hegseth is impeached, Bondi needs to follow (or go first, already justifiably).

Let the dam break.

There is no competence or honor in this administration. They are immoral and it is government by the stupid, for the stupid and corrupt on top of everything.

He will not resign. He is way too egotistical and corrupt to do that. He needs to go to the gulag for his tattoos.

"Sometimes a scandal takes out its central player(s) in one clean swipe of the Grim Reaper’s scythe."

If they're a Democrat. It seems like virtually nothing can take out a Republican. Hegseth's name would be a distance memory if this was a Democratic administration and the presidential impeachment would have already been sent to the senate. The double standard has consumed my last nerve.

It is a Kakistocracy regime. They all should be fired and kicked out of office indefinitely and possibly prosecuted for treason.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

I learned that word — "kakistocracy" — during the Bush administration when we thought it was a perfect fit. Little did we know what was coming. Ah, the good old days.

Black Raven's avatar

Yep. Hopefully we can overcome this nightmare.

Well, crap is about to hit the fan! OMG, this cabinet is full of clowns 🤡!

Jackie Robare Fiese's avatar

What a flipping idiot he is! Hegsethgate is here and so visible!

By Trump's reckoning, it doesn't matter if every ship sinks because he can still have his $90 million parade on his birthday.

Brenda Yocom's avatar

Mr Norman, according to previous statements by Trump/Musk, we cannot afford this military parade! What a tremendous waste of taxpayer money!

America has to choose.. tyranny or freedom

Nah, he’s not going to resign. There is no shame in this administration except for telling the truth.

Hegseth is just like his boss, Trump. He won't resign and will have to be fired by Trump or impeached/removed by Congress.

Can a cabinet member be impeached?

Terry Miller's avatar

Thanks, Tristan, for distilling this toxic brew such that I better understand what is happening. Only cult members likely remain in Trump's control. Usually doesn't end well.

Please. Although, then comes the next sycophant. 😪
