totally endorse this call. If the lawyers won't speak up for these clear breaches of law, how can anyone else be expected to?

This is outrageous.

The convicted felon has again taken truckloads of our national security secret information to his tacky golf motel in Florida just to spite Jack Smith and the attorneys who tried to protect the nation.

Time to prosecute and sentence all the bad guys led by the big Chump.

Marc Elias had actually said the same thing on MSNBC the day after tRump publicly announced the ridiculous EO! tRump is trying to stoke fear into anyone he believes is against him! Time to step up and become an alliance to protect the rule of law!

Tristan, these were acts of which I was unaware, but I'm not surprised given Trump's retaliatory nature. If lawyers don't stand for other lawyers, then who will? It's like that old saying: First they came for all the communists, but I didn't say anything because I wasn't a communist. Next they came for all the trade unionists, but I didn't say anything because I wasn't a trade unionist. And so forth, until the last line is when they came for me, no one spoke up for me because no one was left to speak up. We aren't on a slippery slope, people. We are damn near at the bottom of the slide.

Trump and Musk are running roughshod over our republic. They are the equivalent of homegrown terrorists. Some of the wreckage they are leaving behind will be irreparable. It is time to rein in these lawless vigilantes. It also is time for the wide media to call them out for their assault against our republic. Quoting Tristan: "Stand up for what you believe in, in sufficient numbers, and they will be forced to listen to you."

Tristan, thank you - yet another great idea.

Has anyone considered bringing these lawyers before the American (or D.C?) licensing board, in conjunction with the other test cases before the court.

Even if Bondi and other lead counsel for the administration are advocating for their clients, blatant disregard by Trump/Elon for the rule of law. and failure to advise when they refuse to complyn with the Constitution or court decisions, seem the ultimate breach of the oath attorneys take for entry into the bar, as well as the ethics rules applicable to lawyers.

Creative arguments that the law does not apply to the particular situation is one thing, but the blatant statements and behavior of Trump and his administration indicate a general position that the law does not apply to Trump unless he wins and can claim the victory (just as in elections).

This sends a destructive message to the legal community.

Perhaps the recent letter from the ABA could set the stage for such a charge.

thanks for all you are doing to help us keep up with the intricacies of the ongoing legal actions - the courts are the front line of defense

I have also wondered if the ABA would step up and start cautioning Trump lawyers about their grievous actions in violation of the standards of their profession. Trump has demanded to know where is his Roy Cohn. I want to know where are my Thurgood Marshall and Louis Brandeis.

How ironic that the Party of personal responsibility, now sees itself as everyone’s nosy neighbor. Don’t they realize that lawyers are taught how to argue a position from many different angles? Lawyers should stand up for themselves as many have stood for us in past issues.

As a lawyer, I cannot agree more with you that we need to speak up as a profession. Ed Martin is an absolute embarrassment to our profession. He is a bully who needs to be pushed wayyy back by the entire profession. Perhaps, just as people are doing Saturday in sending a post ard to trump, lawyers should flood martin with cards to be sent simultaneously on 1 day, telling him of our collective displeasure as we know singling out a bully in a group frightens them. It also signals that there is not one place he can go where he will not find resistance to his violation of the laws and Constitutionally granted rights.

(My nice way of telling him to go pound sand)

I worked as a paralegal for years. This is 100% on target. If folks don’t speak up now, it will be too late. #ResistanceIsNotFutile!

If not for principle and democracy, how about simple self interest? You correctly point out that extremist diploma mills will fill any hiring vacuum in DC and elsewhere if the big firms don’t stand up - vocally - for law. And sanity.

We must stop the CR as it gives the President new powers to steal legally and to tax citizens in a way that puts the funds under Executive branch unilateral control. Give the purse to a felon? We must stop the CR. It gives the President new powers. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/fraud?r=3m1bs

Some lawyers are trustworthy and honest, yet others are not. I divorced a lawyer for cheating on me. The root of the problem is not lawyers. The root is greed and arrogance and misogyny. Support those who treat you/us with respect. Avoid those who do not.
