Excellent and very accurate legal analysis of what went wrong at the DOJ as they dragged their feet, and then let the thug get an "immunity" decree handed to him by his self appointed "toady's in SCOTUS. You couldn't make this stuff up if it were not true. It is an "Orwellian nightmare" in real time!

Does it matter that trump is not the sitting president, Biden is? All these “white flags “ sicken me

I wonder about this too. The SCOTUS decision could have been used by Biden to thwart some of that's about to happen. I realize Biden is old school but SCOTUS says new rules, you should play by the new rules, no? What struck me as odd is a reporter asking trump weeks before the election if he would agree to a 'peaceful transition of power' if he lost the election to KH and I could not fathom, if he was not the current sitting president, why anyone would be asking him this question. Nobody was asking KH this, and she is the second chair in the current admin. Based on SCOTUS Biden could seat her on Jan 15 and she could have 45 arrested for treason, right? What power were they asking trump to acquiesce? unless he's been running a shadow gvmt this whole time...idk nothing looks square these days.

Why isn't the Colorado case (where he was found to be an insurrectionist) more in the spotlight after the election, since the ruling was about being on the ballot and not whether it violates the Constitution to hold office?

Very astute and accurate analysis of the ongoing retreat of DOJ and other agencies and courts to impartially prosecute. It is not in doubt that they are obeying, in advance, the Dictator to Come. They are not serving the people, they’re just trying to save their own donkeys.

I can't help remembering that one of the potential jurors in Bragg's case said that when she saw Trump in the courtroom, she was surprised because he was just a guy after all. Nothing special. We need to remember this. He's not above the law. He's nothing special.

We've been discussing those opinions in 2018/19 on Twitter already, and didn't make sense then at all. Of course a president committing crimes from his office must be removed immediately and face justice.

And while no president should have to endure what Clinton had to from Starr and Kavanaugh, Trump not only committed felonies that should earn him many years in prison, for some of them, he abused the power of the president to commit them, which makes it even worse in my eyes.

As for the Jack Smith cases, we need to acknowledge that the incoming Trump DOJ will not allow justice which means that saving whatever he can is the right decision. Ending his cases, Smith now can write reports that should save the evidence he has, and Garland must publish the reports immediately so that Trump's stooges won't be able to destroy the evidence.

Bragg should have let the sentencing go through, though obviously New York wouldn't have the power to enforce the sentence.

Whatever, Trump's dementia will most likely have made all those cases moot once the rule of law can be reestablished.

I have to look at what we can do in the daily battle. Right now I see blocking the nomination abominations.

Let's not forget the multiple violations of Judge Merchan's gag orders. There was NO excuse for Judge Merchan to not hand down a sentence on those blatant violations. It was pure cowardice. Period. When judges are spineless and allow convicted felons to walk away with impunity, that paves the way for complete tyranny and anarchy. It erodes the value of the legal system and effectively renders it neutered. If the uber wealthy are handled with different, preferential treatment and protocols, the rule of law is meaningless.

Shame on ALL the judges who enabled this ignorant tyrant by allowing the frivolous delays and endless appeals along with the lengthy time they took to render a decision on the merits of the respective appeals. They've contributed to the annihilation of the American justice system. They're a disgrace to the robes they wear and the benches they sit upon .

Could subtle (or overt) death threats explain some of the mystery of capitulation that, on the surface, make no sense?

Tristan, Trump's lie that he'd won in 2020 led to an armed insurrection. Isn't that criminal?

Then he continued that lie and fund-raised from it for 4 more years. Americans were victimized by his conscious and purposeful lying, sent him hard-earned dollars, and he suffers no legal consequences?

What about inciting a riot? What about violating the public trust? He's not a sitting president yet and that DOJ pronouncement isn't a law of any kind.

Can't we have a class-action suit for knowingly deceiving the public?

Hope SOMEONE answers that question, please.

I think the picture with the surendering soldier is inappropiate:

it shows a German soldier, easily identifyable by the helmet, (representing the US Legal system) surrendering to American Forces (representing DJT) - that's a little mixed up..... when the DOJ is to stand for the "good guys".

Carsten, I think it was merely a photo chosen to show the white flag of surrender, not anything further like which side is holding the white flag.

I really want the 14th Amendment invoked, but I don't want Vance as President.

I think some of those actions require Congress, not just the President, and some can easily be undone by the next President.

Dorothea, I agree with you 100%. The Democrats cannot continue to play by the rules, when the Republicans are constantly committing crimes. I can’t for the life of me fathom why some Democrats are criticizing Biden for pardoning his son. And the current political climate, we have to step outside of precedent. The Supreme Court has given presidents immunity, and Biden should take full advantage of that.

Exactly! Wake the hell up, Democrats!

I agree with your post entirely, Dorothea. Pathological liars victimize the public who respond as if they were told the truth. He incited a riot by lying...he fund-raised off of a conscious and purposeful lie. People gave money to him based on a lie. I'd like to see class-action suits based on violating the public trust, inciting a riot, and causing mental harm. Rupert Murdoch and Alex Jones were found guilty of similar crimes and paid huge fines.

The point is to keep his pathological lying a foreground issue...daily in the press, over and over until it saturates the brains of more Americans and we recognize that we don't have to silently endure such mental and emotional abuse.
