We are such an anxiety ridden lot. We play put all of the worst case scenarios to try to be prepared, but what I've been reading, and seeing? Fuck cautiously - I am saying, with my whole chest, that Kamala Harris is going to be our next President and it will not be close. We are going to flip the House and we have a damned good chance of keeping the Senate.
But thanks for laying out, in a calm and erudite way, the argument for optimism. It's okay to lean into it. It feels good.
Excellent analysis, Tristan. I would add that there is now an NC poll showing Harris up by 3. This could be an early night. I want to see the pundits and pollsters reaction if that occurs.
Thank you for this thoughtful piece! I needed this today. I’m in the ‘way over 50’ bracket and can say with some assurance that we are voting 💙 all the way.
I am continually knocking on wood when positive information for Kamala and predictions that she will win are written or spoken about. I want her to win so badly my knuckles are numb.
Thank you for your compelling and factual essay, Tristan.
I, and I am sure that I'm one among many, am looking forward to a follow-up essay from you telling us how right you were in your analysis once all the votes have been counted.
I feel more than cautiously optimistic. When Dobbs came down, I thought, there goes the Republican party winning any more presidential elections. Republicans have such disdain for women; how could they actually think that women wouldn’t go ballistic over losing their civil rights? Entitled white men, fearful of being displaced, living in a fairytale, just blathered on and created havoc. And women and men watched as women were left to die for no good reason. And that was all it took. They did it to themselves and the karma is well deserved.
This woman, who is 73 and from Florida, agrees with you! If you have not voted yet, have a plan ready. This is the most important vote of your life. Vote BLUE up and down the ballot. Together we can save our freedoms. We don’t have to go back.
What a great photo that is of Kamala looking at Donald. She knows EXACTLY what he is. She had a career as a prosecutor dealing with felons just like Trump. Kamala is vastly superior to you, Donald. Hillary was, too. You are a creep, Donald. Enjoy your defeat.
I’m not anxious or downcast. I am, however, exhausted. Exhausted by the lies and deceit from the GOP in support of a petty tyrant trying to become a dictator.
Women are exceedingly angry at the loss of our agency, we are not going back. I don’t think men can possibly understand, because they have never been in our shoes. Before the abolition of slavery, black men knew, but white men have been the leaders for so many eons, that there can’t be knowledge of what women are experiencing. There is medical treatment available to save women’s lives, but it is not accessible for any amount of money, no matter how she suffers. That is cruelty.
I believe Haitian Americans also make up a good chunk in Florida.
That's why (P)Rick Scott quickly sucked up to both groups on twattter. He is evil, but not quite that stupid.

Donald has always meant trouble with a capital T for this woman over 65 and all her friends. I hope my cohort in swing states agrees.
We older women have been saying this for quite some time. We are pissed off!

I’ve been convinced since September that there is a ground swell of support for Harris that pollsters do not know how to capture.
Now I must admit I was 100% wrong.
Thank you for your compelling and factual essay, Tristan.

Great piece of work Tristan. I am cautiously optimistic too.
Dobbs puts an exclamation point on the old saying, "Be careful what you wish for."

Going to love the literal mental melt down when you all realize the fraud Harris has lost and lost massively.
