Tomorrow the battles to defend the American Republic from billionaire kleptocracy and fascism will enter a new and perilous phase. So tomorrow we will be starting the launch of Heroes for Democracy, a new network of pro-democracy content bringing together dozens of creators and millions of Americans who deeply love this country and will not let it be stolen and destroyed without a fight.

But before we talk more about that tomorrow — in order to make this all happen, I need your help.

While the far right’s top bankrollers have spent $500 million to $1 billion in the last decade to astroturf all of their podcasts, influencers, and networks. The result? Turning Point, CPAC, the Daily Wire, Newsmax, OAN, RAV, RSBN, and hundreds of right-wing influencers, all funded by the likes of Peter Thiel, the Kochs, the Mercers, and the DeVoses.

In response to this, the pro-democracy movement has done . . . almost nothing. There has been no major effort to fund or to invest in our digital content creators. And meanwhile the mainstream media has surrendered, bending the knee.

Their creators have millions in funding and fancy studios. Our creators record from their kitchens and living rooms.

We don’t need all their wasteful fanciness — but we do need to pay for amazing producers to develop and promote new shows, for talented editors to work on Substacks and podcasts and videos. All so we can build bigger newsletters and podcasts and shows with more advertising revenue, making this effort self-sustaining and allowing the creators and producers and editors to devote themselves full-time to this crucial work.

But I can’t do this alone. I’ve been able to fund my own content production, but to scale this up with dozens and eventually hundreds of other creators, we’ll need a lot more resources.
